Digital Training & Resources
EJTN offers online training in many formats, including videos, e-learning content, and webinars such as the very popular Lunchtime Webinar series. Justice practitioners can also access the methodologies and resources database, the EJTN Intranet, and a variety of other tools and materials. These are complemented by EJTN’s publications and communications activities, which enhance the visibility of its work and raise awareness of its initiatives across the European judicial community.
Lunchtime Webinars
Overview
The Lunchtime Webinar series is a successful digital initiative with the goal of raising awareness on key topics related to EU law. Since its creation in 2020, this project has become a key opportunity for justice practitioners from across the EU to share experiences and best practices in various subjects and fields. These bite-sized webinars are structured in the ‘1 hour, 1 expert, 1 topic’ format, and they take place twice per month. Topics cover multiple areas of law, including administrative, civil and criminal law, human rights and fundamental freedoms, linguistics, judicial training methods as well as timely topics related to the digital transformation of justice. A leading practitioner or expert delivers the session, followed by a Q&A with the participants.
Achievements in 2024
In 2025, EJTN organised 20 Lunchtime Webinars, attracting over 3,700 participants in total, which demonstrates the direct and measurable impact of the series. This represents an increase of nearly 31% in participation compared with the previous year. Some of the most popular topics in 2025 included time management, civil liability due to AI, legal English in the EU as well as key courtroom vocabulary. In March, a session focused on plain language in judicial proceedings drew a record-breaking 319 participants online – the highest attendance since the beginning of the webinar series in 2020. In just one hour, the session reached over 300 participants from across the EU, showing how relevant this legal language topic is.
Moreover, a very special Lunchtime Webinar was held in November, when EJTN partnered with the association Stand Speak Rise Up! – co-founded by Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg – for a high-level session focused on sexual violence against women in armed conflicts. Nearly 200 participants from more than 18 countries gathered online for insights on this topic.

Digital Resources
Overview
In 2025, a new section – ‘EJTN Learning and Training Hub’ – was developed for the EJTN Intranet. This new hub centralises relevant training resources and materials, such as recordings of EJTN webinars, as well as learning materials from EJTN’s partners, including the InfoCuria tutorial by the Court of Justice of the European Union. The hub is only available for EJTN members.
Moreover, EJTN partnered with the HELP Programme of the Council of Europe to create e-learning modules for training activities organised by various EJTN Working Groups and Sub-Working Groups, including ‘Building a Common Digital Culture’ by the Working Group on Digitalisation and ‘Human Rights an Access to Justice’ by the Sub-Working Group on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. These are available on the HELP Programme’s e-learning platform.
Learning resources were also developed for other EJTN portfolios, including learning podcast episodes for administrative law, and learning videos for civil law.
Publications
Overview
In 2025, EJTN released three publications that serve as valuable resources for Europe’s justice practitioners. Moreover, work on the comprehensive study, entitled ‘State of Judicial Training in Europe’, published in January 2026, was carried out during 2025. These, along with previously published EJTN materials, are available on the EJTN website.
2024 THEMIS Annual Journal
The 2024 THEMIS Annual Journal, marking the 15th edition of the prestigious THEMIS Competition, was launched during the 2025 THEMIS Competition Grand Final, held at the Court of Justice of the European Union in December 2025. The Annual Journal showcases 13 outstanding papers from the 2024 THEMIS Competition, covering four key areas of European law. Topics range from the complexity of EU mutual assistance in criminal matters to the use of retrospective facial recognition by law enforcement, the binding decisions of the European Data Protection Board in light of access to justice, and more.
For the first time in its history, the journal was published by external publishing house Anthemis and indexed in the Cairn database. This edition also includes an inaugural foreword by Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and introduces a new section dedicated to the 2024 THEMIS Grand Final, featuring contributions from the jury and the winning team.

Compendium of Best Practices Identified by Participants in an EJTN Judicial Exchange
Launched in November 2025, the ‘Compendium of Best Practices Identified by Participants in an EJTN Judicial Exchange’ was released during the special 20th anniversary year of the EJTN Exchange Programme. This publication collects insights and effective practices observed by over 1,000 judges, prosecutors and court staff during their judicial exchanges. It also offers guidance for applying these practices in other EU Member States.
Divided into two complementary parts – a detailed compendium listing the best practices identified by participants and a research report providing more context – this publication supports knowledge exchange by sharing innovative approaches identified by participants and showcases their reflections after exploring other European justice systems.
2026 EJTN Catalogue of Training Activities
The 2026 Catalogue, unveiled in a fully digital format at the 25th Anniversary Event in October 2025, features a wide selection of training activities designed with the evolving legal landscape in mind. Building on 25 years of judicial training excellence, the Catalogue provides Europe’s justice practitioners with opportunities to explore key themes such as the Rule of Law, the protection of fundamental rights, competitiveness, digitalisation, judicial leadership, and more.
Communications
In 2025, EJTN continued to build on the communication successes of the previous year. A special emphasis was given to EJTN’s 25th anniversary through showcasing EJTN’s history and achievements and inviting EJTN members and partners to share their memories and wishes for the Network. Two tailor-made campaigns generated significant visibility on social media, further reinforcing EJTN’s online presence and stakeholder engagement.
EJTN Newsletter
The EJTN Newsletter celebrated its first anniversary in 2025. Over the year, it became a staple of EJTN’s communication activities, increasing its subscriber base by more than 37%. Initially launched as an internal channel, the newsletter was opened to partners and participants in 2025, further supporting EJTN’s goals of enhancing both its impact and reach.
EJTN on social media
Throughout 2025, EJTN continued to strengthen its presence on social media, using its platforms to highlight key themes, including gender equality in justice and fundamental rights.
In March, a partnership campaign for International Women’s Day featured high-level leaders from the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary, setting new records for follower engagement. In May, coinciding with Europe Day, a special campaign was launched to highlight the 25th anniversary of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, with contributions from the European Commissioner Michael McGrath, Director of FRA Sirpa Rautio, and EJTN members.
Reaching 10,000 followers on LinkedIn marked a major milestone, reinforcing EJTN’s visibility and engagement online.
